A report by a market research firm shows that against a backdrop of declining global demand for consumer electronics, global tablet shipments grew by more than 20 percent in the third quarter, reaching 38.4 million units, thanks to increased orders for Apple’s iPad series and increased shipments of other brands, better than the market research firm’s expectations.
However, the research firm also said in its report that global tablet shipments in the fourth quarter are expected to decline by nearly 10 percent sequentially, due to a decline in demand.
From the data of market research institutions, the top five manufacturers of tablet PC shipments in the third quarter, accounting for 80% of global shipments, Apple and Samsung Electronics, the two major manufacturers, is accounted for 60%.
The highest shipment is Apple, as the supply chain was affected in the second quarter, the third quarter they tried their best to make up for the impact suffered, shipments also increased significantly, accounting for 38.2% of all shipments.
The 2nd highest tablet shipment was Samsung Electronics, with a share of about 22%, a significant gap with Apple.
Shipments ranked 3-5 were Amazon, Lenovo and Huawei respectively.
It is worth noting that although the 10th generation iPad and the new generation iPad Pro were released and launched in the fourth quarter, and other brands are actively promoting their products, factors such as the weak global economy and inflation will still lead to shrinking demand.
